Our Story
A Tradition of Excellence
Swiss Louis has been a San Francisco favorite since it first opened in 1936 on Broadway in North Beach, thanks to the vision of Swiss-Italian founder Louis Maghetti and his partner, John Marconcini.
Although Louis passed away shortly after opening, Marconcini carried on their dream, later teaming up with master chef Sal Chiavino to expand their legacy. After more than two decades in North Beach, Marconcini and Chiavino moved Swiss Louis to the iconic Pier 39 when it was constructed in 1978. The restaurant quickly became a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. Sal Chiavino kept the long-standing traditions of Italian cooking cuisine the same after Marconcini death. Tiffany Pisoni, became a partner in Swiss Louis in 2011 after working side by side with her business partner, Sal, in other endeavors. An entrepreneur from a young age, they manage every aspect of the business, bringing it to a new level.
